-Barry T. Ross, LFHIMSS, advisor to the WPHIMSS Board, past President of WPHIMSS, and HIMSS past President and Board Chairman has been selected as the recipient of the 2009 HIMSS-Society for Health Systems Excellence in Healthcare Management Engineering/Process Improvement Award. Barry is the current recipient of the HIMSS Chapter Leader of the Year Award and the HIMSS Founders Leadership Award. Most recently, Mr. Ross was featured in the HIMSS Weekly Insider on August 17, 2011 as a featured member in the "Meet Our Members" section.
-WPHIMSS Board member Jay Srini, chief innovation officer at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, has been appointed as a Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT) commissioner for a two year term that will begin in January 2010. CCHIT commissioners guide and approve the work of staff and volunteers who develop the organization's certification criteria and testing programs.
-WPHIMSS Board member, Dr. Mohamad Ali, has been selected to serve as a CCHIT Physician Juror. As a physician juror, Dr. Ali will be evaluating EMRs that are submitted for CCHIT certification.
